Formula 1 a Monza, la contronarrazione: rettilinei più lunghi e auto più lente, c’era una volta il “Tempio della velocità”
FIA e Liberty Media dovrebbero erigere un monumento ad Andrea Kimi Antonelli. La parabola dell’italiano è infatti così esaltante e genuina da far passare tutto il resto in secondo piano. Monza è stato l’esempio più classico: un week–end nerissimo per la F1, o meglio, per come è stata ridotta la categoria regina del motorsport, salvato dalla rimonta da sogno di Antonelli, protagonista di una prestazione fenomenale che ha ribadito tutta la consistenza e il talento alla base della parabola del pilota italiano. A questo punto un’avvertenza è doverosa: quanto verrà riportato dal presente articolo non intende in alcun modo sminuire quanto sta facendo Antonelli, il quale, anzi, rappresenta una delle poche note liete in una stagione davvero imbarazzante a causa delle scellerate politiche della Federazione. I numerosi critici del sistema ibrido attuale delle power unit (50% endotermico, 50% elettrico), tra i quali va annoverata anche buona parte dei piloti, attendevano Monza come uno dei banchi di prova più difficili da superare con le nuove vetture. Circuito velocissimo, con rettilinei lunghi, tra quelli in calendario è forse il circuito meno indicato in assoluto per far girare le monoposto 2026, affamate di energia e costretto a subire tagli di potenza, una volta che la batteria elettrica è prossima all’esaurimento, per poter ricaricare. Un contesto che qualcuno, con spirito sarcastico, ha ribattezzato da Formula Enel. Ieri nell’autodromo si è sviluppato un autentico paradosso: per la prima volta nella storia del motorsport, rettilinei più lunghi si sono tradotti in velocità di punta inferiori. La velocità massima raggiunta, infatti, è stata di “soli” 351 km/h, dalla Ferrari di Lewis Hamilton e dalla Cadillac di Sergio Perez; si è trattato di 6 km/h in meno rispetto a un circuito come l’Hungaroring, considerato uno dei più lenti. Questo perché più lunghi sono i rettilinei, più l’erogazione dell’ERS (Energy Recovery System, il sistema di recupero e rilascio dell’energia cinetica e termica) deve essere “diluita“, dal momento che una determinata quantità di energia deve coprire una distanza maggiore. Nel 2025, Hamilton aveva toccato i 365 km/h, mentre nel 2022 Carlos Sainz era arrivato a quota 360 km/h. Oggi per trovare questi picchi bisogna guardare al tracciato di Barcellona, mentre Monza finisce dietro la citata Ungheria (357), ma anche l’Olanda (353) e la Cina (352). Ergo, il tempio della velocità non è più tale. Le premesse già annunciavano il disastro: nelle libere, confrontando la telemetria della Mercedes di George Russell dello scorso anno con quella attuale, balzava subito all’occhio come le velocità su tutti gli allunghi, così come alle due Lesmo, crollavano. Nel tratto che porta alla Roggia, si rilevavano differenze anche di 30 km/h, in quanto la monoposto rimaneva con il solo motore termico e di potenza per spingere oltre non ne aveva più. Non a caso la FIA era corsa ai ripari già in settimana, concedendo solo 5 megajoule di ricarica massima durante le qualifiche, il dato più basso dell’intera stagione. Questo per ridurre significativamente il limite massimo di energia recuperabile per giro, mascherando in qualche modo i difetti “endemici” delle monoposto e ridurre il più possibile il clipping (taglio di potenza) sul dritto, con ovvie conseguenze sulla prestazione massima. Perché si tratta comunque di una pezza, applicata su un sistema regolamentare pensato male (ma voluto dalle case motoristiche) e, soprattutto, portato avanti senza tenere in considerazione le obiezioni che venivano sollevate di volta in volta dagli addetti ai lavori. Monza è stato anche uno yo-yo, con sorpassi continui, posizioni perse e riprese, macchine sverniciate come se fosse un videogioco, che di colpo ritrovavano vita qualche curva dopo e ingaggiavano nuovamente un duello con l’avversario. Non avendo a disposizione i dati, diventa impossibile per l’appassionato capire quando un sorpasso avviene per grande abilità di guida del pilota e quando invece per questioni di ricarica. Una situazione mortificante, in primo luogo per i piloti stessi. Poi, certo, lo spettatore avrà apprezzato la serie continua di sorpassi, ma è un po’ come guardare una partita di calcio terminare 9-8 perché è stato abolito il fuorigioco e, in alcuni momenti, una squadra gioca in superiorità numerica rispetto all’altra. Quanto questi gol sono il risultato dell’abilità dei calciatori, e quanto invece degli aggiustamenti regolamentari? Tutto ciò viene contrastato da Liberty Media con una propaganda stucchevole e quasi offensiva nella sua banalità. Stefano Domenicali ripete a più riprese che ai tifosi piace questa F1. Quali tifosi? È presto spiegato. La sua fonte proviene dalla piattaforma F1 Fan Voice, che annovera circa 60mila iscritti. Di questi, rispondono ai sondaggi 2mila-3mila persone massimo, e a quello sul gradimento dell’attuale F1 ha risposto in maniera positiva il 66%. Si deduce quindi che per Domenicali 1.980 persone (che oltretutto pagano l’iscrizione alla piattaforma, pertanto è facile che siano propensi ad approvarne i contenuti) rappresentano i tifosi della F1 in tutto il mondo. Oltre a quella di Antonelli, Monza ha regalato anche un’altra bella storia, con la prima pole position ottenuta in carriera da Pierre Gasly, che qui oltretutto aveva ottenuto, nel 2020 con l’Alpha Tauri, il suo primo e unico successo in F1. La curiosità risiede nel fatto che Gasly era appena stato privato del podio ottenuto tre mesi prima a Monte Carlo, dove la FIA era andata incontro all’ennesima figuraccia, con i rilevatori di velocità mal posizionati all’ingresso della corsia box e conseguente pioggia di sanzioni. Tra ricorsi e controricorsi, ci sono voluti centottanta giorni per conoscere l’esatto ordine di arrivo, podio compreso, di una gara. Nell’ipertecnologica e ipercorporativa F1 del 2026 può accadere anche questo. Elaine Keesing alla veneranda età di 102 anni, ha venduto l’unica casa che abbia mai posseduto in vita sua: un immobile a tre camere da letto a Salter Point, sobborgo di Perth, in Australia, che lei e il marito (oggi scomparso) costruirono con le proprie mani dopo la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, per circa 3.080 dollari.
